Casa R.
San Damiano d'Asti, 2021 - 2023
A staircase with the house around it
The Casa R renovation project stands out for its ability to reinterpret the existing, enhancing historical elements and integrating them into a contemporary architectural language.
The project resulted in the construction of a spacious and bright single-family residence obtained by the redevelopment of an existing building, previously split into two commercial units on the ground floor and an apartment on the second floor.

The distribution of space was rethought, unifying the two levels through the introduction of a sculptural staircase, a distinctive architectural element.
The staircase, the visual centerpiece of the dwelling, serves as a connecting element between floors while concealing practical functions such as a shoe rack and wardrobe.
New openings, created at the stairwell, amplify the perception of space and generate striking plays of light.
On the ground floor, the living area consists of a large living room, a dining room overlooking the private garden, a bright kitchen, and a utility room. The upper floor houses two bedrooms, a bathroom and a laundry room, configuring a functional and cozy sleeping area.
The texture of the exposed brick walls and vaulted ceilings lends character and authenticity to the rooms. Attention to detail and choice of materials contribute to a refined and comfortable atmosphere in which light and space take center stage.
